Howdy! My name is Cassie Sheppard, and I am thrilled to be joining the Springfield Elementary School community as the new Agriculture teacher. Though I originally hail from Screven County, I graduated from Effingham County High School and recently earned my degree in Agricultural Education from the University of Georgia—Go Dawgs!

Growing up in a rural area, I developed a deep love and appreciation for the land and the life it supports. My passion for agriculture started early, and I can't wait to share that enthusiasm with my students. I believe that understanding where our food comes from is vital knowledge for everyone. When I'm not in the classroom, you can find me crocheting, tending to my garden, or curled up with a good book. Whether it's through a new crochet project, experimenting with different plants in my garden, or simply enjoying the outdoors, I'm always looking for ways to learn and grow.

I'm excited about the journey ahead at SES! Go Bulldogs!

Hi! My name is Brittany Lein, and  I have been  the Art Teacher here at Springfield Elementary since 2014.  I was raised in Greeley, Colorado and moved to Savannah, Georgia for college in 2006, where I played volleyball at Savannah College of Art and Design. While there, I studied Interior Design and Architecture. While the lord had other plans for me, I went back to school in 2010 to pursue my teaching degree in Art Education.  In 2013, I received my teaching degree in P - 12 art from Armstrong Atlantic State University.

I love creating and looking at all sorts of art.  I believe we are surrounded by art all day every day.  Something I love to do on the side is interior design and decorating residential homes.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family.  My husband and I have 4 children that keep us very busy.  I have also been the head volleyball coach at Effingham County High School since 2014.  When I am not creating art, in my classroom, or spending time on the court,  I enjoy spending my days at the beach, shopping, or with my family, including my dogs Bailey, Tater, and Eleanor!

Hi! My name is Sierra Flue, and I have been teaching since 2021. I began my career after I graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2020 as a substitute in New Mexico.  I then moved to a small school in Texas where I taught Elementary Music as well as Middle and High School band. At the University of New Mexico, I studied Music Education with a concentration in Instrumental Instruction. I am also a classically trained trumpet player. I grew up as a military child, which brought me to GA in 2004, and I loved it. When my family moved I always said I would come back to live. 

My husband, Brennan, and I have been married since 2023. We love to spend our weekends relaxing at home or exploring the outdoors. My husband is a veteran of the US Air Force and has since began a career with Gulfstream in Savannah. We are incredibly blessed to be in this area, and I am blessed to be teaching in Springfield! 

My name is Mary Jane Heyman.  I was born and raised in Effingham County.  I went to Springfield Elementary!  I graduated from college from Charleston Southern University, where I got my Degree in Physical Education.  I also have my Master's degree. In 1993, I came back to Effingham County and started teaching at SES, as well as several other schools, before landing at Ebenezer Elementary.  I am now back as a bulldog, coming back full circle!  I am married to Julian and have one daughter, Sarah Kate!  I am thankful for the opportunity to teach your children about P. E. and maintain their physical health!

My name is Serena Harden.  I have been the Technology Teacher at Springfield Elementary since 2018. I am also one of the yearbook editors and a webmaster for SES.  I previously taught 2nd grade at SES for 21 years. My educational background includes attending and graduating from Springfield Elementary, Central Junior High School, and Effingham County High School.  I received my Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, and Education Specialist Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University.  Throughout my teaching career I have also added certifications in Instructional Technology, Teacher Support Specialist, and Gifted Education. My husband, Adam Harden, and I have been married since 2006. He is a History teacher at Effingham County High School.  We have one son, Ross Harden, who is a student at Effingham County High School. I enjoy spending time with my family, being an active member at my church, traveling, cooking, baking, and shopping!
